Alpaca is an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc. It is also called Nickel Silver or German Silver. Alpaca Silver is malleable, yet durable and a nice silver-toned metal alternative to sterling silver. We typically use sterling silver in our jewelry products but like to use Alpaca for our home accessories.
What metal do you use for your earring wires and posts?
All of our earring posts are made of sterling silver and our earwires are either sterling-silver or silver-plated.
Who are your artisans and where are they from?
Our artisans come from the famous silver-mining town of Taxco, Mexico. They work from their own homes or small workshops (often a room behind their house). Many of them have been doing metal work for decades and their skill and precision is remarkable. We are very happy to provide them work and contribute to their livelihood. In return we are blessed with their beautiful craftsmanship.
